ZONE IV HOCKEY 2017/18 MAJOR AWARDS WINNERS

 

TOP GOALTENDER AWARD

 

Owen Domitruk-Morden Thunder

 

The Morden Thunder would like to nominate Owen Domitrukfor the Zone 4 Top Goaltender award. Owen is in his 2nd year playing for the Thunder and has developed into one of the top goaltenders in the league. Owen has upped his play the closer we have got to the playoffs and solidified his spot among the top goaltenders in the league. He boasts a record of 8 wins and 3 losses with 1 shut out. He has a GAA of 3.03 and a save percentage of 0.903 which are the best numbers for any goaltender who has played more than 10 games this year. He never stops competing until the final whistle blows and for these reasons we would like to nominate Owen Domitruk for the Zone 4 Top Goaltender award.

LEW MUELLER TOP DEFENSEMAN AWARD

 

Carter Wall-Northlands Parkway Collegiate Nighthawks

 

Carter is a very strong and skilled defenceman whose elite defensive skills are complimented by his superior offensive skills. He can break up a play, set up/score a goal or defend on a penalty kill. Carter sees the ice well and jumps on opportunities to rush and be part of the attack when the need arises. He is a strong skater and uses his body well to protect the puck.  He's almost unbeatable 1 on 1 and has great hands.  He can do it all.  During league play he scored 10 goals and 13 helpers in 20 games. Carter averaged 35+ minutes each game while being matched against the strengths of opposing teams. Carter Wall is an elite defenceman who deserves strong consideration for the top Zone 4 Defenceman Award for 2017-18.

LLOYD C. ORCHARD MOST SPORTMANLIKE AWARD

 

Daniel Isaak-Morris Mavericks

 

Daniel Isaak is a Gr. 10 student, he is solid two way player and is a fierce competitor. The  multi sport athlete scored 17 goals, 15 assists for 32 pts. and was the only player in the top 50 scorers with 0 penalty minutes.

MOST VALUABLE PLAYER AWARD

 

Colton Harder-W.C. Miller Aces

 

The W.C. Miller Aces nomination for the Heavy Metal Designs MVP Award is Colton Harder. Colton is a Grade 12 student in his third year with the Aces. He plays forward and is the team's captain. Colton possesses excellent speed and a very high level of skill which has led to his big offensive output again this year. Through 23 league games Colton has compiled a very impressive league leading 56 goals and 40 assists. Colton broke the Zone 4 High School Hockey single season scoring record of 78 points in just 19 games. With one game remaining in league play, he has eclipsed the record by 18 points. Earlier this year Colton also broke the career scoring record of 151 career points. Colton currently has 183 career points in league play. Colton has been the named the Zone 4 Player of the Week 5 times this season. Colton also takes pride in his defensive game and is often described by his coach as a 200 foot player.
